The Bavanggazo Rungus Longhouse
We booked in advance to have an overnight stay to this place because my friend used to visit this place and he became friends with the local. The term ‘Rungus’
are an ethnic group of Borneo residing in northern Sabah in the area
surrounding Kudat. Traditionally, Rungus live in longhouses, with each family
having its own separate quarters off a common hall. Tonight I'll gonna experience what it is to live and stay like a Rungus.
Rungus longhouse usually built 3 to 5 feet above the ground. The roof is low and the walls are made of split bamboo with outward slope. The sorroundings are cool and provides natural ventilation.

They have provided mosquito net. At night you will hear the stridulation of cricket, chirping of birds and even the soft susurration of branches, rustling bushes and the howl of wind ...(am i in the middle of forest?) .
Gong at the common hall use for cultural show.
The Cultural Show.
The Rungus Wearing complete set of their traditional costumes with brass coils around their arms and hips, and strings of colorful glass beads around their body and head piece.
Rungus are very talented in showcasing their talents in dancing their traditional dance and after their performance its our turn to dance, dancing their traditional dance also. I really dont know how to dance but because of them they let me dance the way they want it to, they are a good teacher.

Our Dinner.
Rungus usually prepares green vegetables, fish and chicken. So Nutritious, delicious, tasty, etc.
After dinner. Drink a little with local. We have beer and we tasted their local alcoholic drink made of maize (corn) called Tinonggilan.
Beautiful morning once again. Today's plan is to visit the Poring Hot Spring, walk through the jungle leading to the Kipungit Waterfall and have fish spa, trek up to canopy walkway and if we are lucky enought to see rafflesia blooming.
Thank you for visiting my site.
