Kundasang War Memorial
The Kundasang War Memorial or "Tugu Peringatan Perang Kundasang" by Malay is a memorial located in Kundasang in the Malaysian state of Sabah. It is one of the first memorials to commemorate the brave Australian and British Prisoners of War who died in Sandakan and during the infamous death marches to Ranau during World War II. It also recognises the suffering and sacrifice of the native population of Sabah.

At Exhibit Area. Here on display are pictures, newspaper articles and some personal accounts about the march by the Presoners of War.
By the exhibits itself, It was a pang of admiration and salutation of the POWs in Sandakan and on the Ranau Death Marches during World War II against Japanese, how they have suffered and sacrificed during this period made them a hero.
The memorial and its gardens, built over four level with interconnecting areas by a trail. The first three gardens represent the home countries of the victims; 1) The Australian Garden, 2) the English Rose Garden, 3) the Borneo Garden with wild flowers of Mount Kinabalu and 4) the Contemplation Garden.

Located at the highest point in the fort is considered as the center piece of the Kundasang War Memorial Park.

Long narrow pool sorrounded with White columns to create a
beautiful and peaceful pergolas setting.
Inscribed in gold on highly polished, black granite slabs are the 1787 names of all those who died at Sandakan, Ranau and on the death marches including age, date and place of death and original place of burial.
Flags represent the countries of the POWs.
At the back of Contemplation garden you can enjoy the magnificent view of Mt Kinabalu and place for contemplation for me because walking through the gardens is a very thought provoking and emotional journey.
